Axel Scott - May 13, 2007 01:50 PM (GMT)
God, Axel missed that familiar feeling of anonymity. She was stuck, stuck in the stupid society of Ipswich, MA. She was used to going somewhere, seeing people she’d never see again. But now she was in a place where people knew her face, knew her name. She was that girl who lived with the Scotts, that old, stuck-up family. They knew she’d shown up half-way through the sophomore year in high school, with no explanation, and no family other than her grandparents. She was an outsider. It wasn’t like she really cared. She was out of there as soon as her mother showed up again. Permitting she didn’t just stab her in the face instead. But then again, she’d be locked up for that, so she’d be gone anyway. God forbid she be stuck in this slow-paced town for another few years.
Ax sat at the bar, laced in cigarette smoke and nursing a Bloody Tampon. Yes, I know it’s a disgusting name, but it had an interesting taste to it. And it always freaked guys out when they asked what you were drinking. Nicky’s Bar was the only place she really liked. At least no one there knew who she was. Except the kids from her school, that is, but they never bothered her. Axel sat with her back to the bar, the cigarette raised to her lips, and watched a progressing pool game. She’d always loved pool and this place was the perfect spot to watch an interesting game, as they often broke out into fights. With her free hand, Axel pushed back an offshoot of her jet hair, keeping it out of her equally black eyes. Exhaling smoke, the long-limbed girl glanced around the interior of the bar, keeping track of who she knew and who she didn’t.
Noting the time, Axel assumed that those one kids, the four boys that everyone seemed to adore, would be showing up eventually. They were so predictable. Same place, same parties. They were cute, sure, but she couldn’t really figure why everyone was so obsessed with them. Gods among men, they were. A hint of amusement crept into Axel’s thoughtful expression as she considered the girls who lounged about the bar, no doubt waiting for the boys. This fact was made obvious by their full drinks sitting in front of them. If you didn’t come to a bar to drink, she wondered, what could you possibly be coming for?
Pogue Parry - May 13, 2007 02:07 PM (GMT)
It had started to rain about halfway towards town from his house to Nicky's. Pulling his bike to stop near entrance of the bar he slipped his helmet off and climbed off. Placing the helmet on one of the handle bars he stepped away from the bike and entered the bar. Bringing up a hand he brushed back a couple strains of wet dirty blonde hair before making his way over to a table. Not seeing any of the guys yet he slipped his leather jacket off. Resting it behind a chair he now only wearing a black-t shirt. Making his way to the bar he gave it a small pat asking Nicky for a beer.
Turning his head for a second he noticed that half of the bar was looking at him. Course half of the bar was full of half of the female population of Spencer. Pogue smirked to himself he grabbed at the beer Nicky had planted in front of him. Handing the older man a bill he turned back around and rested his back against the bar for a second and took a small sip of the ice cold beer. Looking down at his watch he wondered where the rest of the guys were. Caleb had told him to meet up with him, Reid and Tyler at Nicky's. But clearly Pogue had beaten them there at least that's what it looked like.

And there they were. Or one of them at least. The one with the really weird name. Axel ran her tongue over her back rows of teeth and watched him enter, along with every one else. She could never remember his name. It started with an R, right? No, that wasn’t the letter. N? O? A slight frown creased her brow, but she quickly disregarded the problem of his name and turned her eyes back to the game. She saw him at school all the time. Why would she want to stare at him then? Ax took a sip of her bitter drink and flicked a line of ash off of her cigarette. She noticed, out of her peripheral vision, that the boy was making his way towards the bar. As the cards would have it, he stepped up beside her to order his drink. After that she expected he would go and lurk around a pool table with his lackeys, but no, he stayed right beside her.
Axel glanced sideways at him, noting that he was without his usual entourage. Hm. She looked away finally, taking the opportunity to stub out her dying cigarette in a brimming ashtray that sat along the bar. Turning back to face the crowd, drink in hand, Axel once more turned her attention to the kid. He was cute, to say the least, but she never liked someone who so obviously knew they were cute. The sons (or cousins, whatever it was) of Ipswich all knew they were cute. It was sort of amusing, but irritating at that. “Hey,” she said to him, her generally friendly disposition overruling her indifference to him. She was a social creature, and that part of her persona forced her to greet people, even ones she disliked.
Pogue Parry - May 13, 2007 02:37 PM (GMT)
Hearing a voice from the right of him made him turn his head. Catching eyes with a female he simply gave her nod "Hey". Pogue was use to talking to girls that Nickey's sure some of them were either drunk or REALLY drunk. He was to it ever since his junior at Spencer. Girls his age thought he "hot" or "gorgeous" him personally didn't have idea what they were talking about. He looked at himself as just a normal guy. Well..accept for him not being any normal teenage kid in Ipswich.
He was gifted and not in the science or math department that Tyler's area. He was born into a family of witches and at age 13 his powers developed but not to there full potential. Pogue was actually kind of scared when it was his time to Ascend. His father was power hungry after this 18th birthday much like Caleb's. Leaving Pogue with the fear of becoming like his dad.
Axel Scott - May 13, 2007 02:48 PM (GMT)
Axel waited, her drink held chest-level. She expected something other than a nod, but she got nothing. Hm. Nice kid, right? She arched an eyebrow slightly, though she should have expected that from one of them. Asses. "Okay then," she said, raising the glass to her lips. Sure, the kid was good-looking, but as far as she was concerned, he had the personality of a crouton. Big surprise. She once again ran her tongue over her teeth, an unconscious habit of hers. Her thoughts turned to leaving Ipswich. Just getting up one day and driving off didn’t sound like a bad idea. It was fall, so her mom was probably in Vegas, San Francisco, or Denver. That narrowed it down, but if she looked at it realistically, it was unlikely that she’d find her mom and her brother that way. She’d have better luck just staying in one place.
But everyone in that silly little town behaved that way, thinking they were too cool for so many things. No one knew how to have fun. This brought her mind back to the guy standing beside her, not talking. Axel once again felt the irresistible urge to speak, so she gave in, figuring it couldn’t really hurt. “So,” she said, turning slightly to face him, “Do you know how to talk, or is silence just your new fashion trend?” Sure, this was a bit rude, but Axel had a habit of being painfully blunt. That, and the fact that she loved irritating people. She made it sort of a hobby of hers. This guy, whatever his name was, looked like the type to get angry easily. Fun.
Pogue Parry - May 13, 2007 04:53 PM (GMT)
Smiling he scratched the back of his head "No, I'm the more strong and silent type" laughing he looked at her before putting an out stretched hand. "Pogue Parry" he said flashing her a tiny smile. He might come off as a total ass but he wasn't one. The only person who fit that bill was Aaron Abbott. Pogue on the other hand was usually pretty quiet. He guessed because of hanging out with Tyler since pretty much birth. Giving her hand a small shake he crossed her arms over his chest.
"So you must be the new girl at Spencer right?" he said with a raised brow. What was it new kid month or something? first Sarah then Chase and now this girl?. Ipswich was a pretty small down so seeing new faces all in one month was a little weird at least for Pogue.
Axel Scott - May 13, 2007 07:39 PM (GMT)
‘The strong and silent type.’ What did that mean? His statement left Axel wondering, but her facial expression belied little. Whatever. It didn’t matter. “Ah,” she said, looking down into her red drink, “You sure that isn’t just a euphemism for anti-social?” Now that they’d passed the initial rude stage, they could move on to the pleasantries. As she predicted, he extended a hand and introduced himself as Pogue Parry. Axel had to choke back her laughter at his bizarre name, and by the grace of God, she managed to do so. His name was Pogue for Christ’s sake. Wasn’t that the name of a Telly Tubby? “Axel Scott,” she managed to say, before swallowing her laughter with a sip of her drink. She caught his hand in hers and shook it for a second before releasing it. She was aware that her name wasn’t too mainstream either, but it was highly unlikely that it could be considered as unusual as his. They weren’t even playing the same game.
Ax looked at him as he asked if she was the new girl. This time she allowed her laughter to bubble forth. She stalled it by pressing the back of her hand to her mouth before replying, “No, I’m not new,” she said through her laughter, “I’ve lived here with my grandparents for nearly three years.” Axel wasn’t at all upset that he suspected her of being a new kid. They weren’t in the same crowd, so it wasn’t surprising. “I’m not a big fan of teenage society, so that’s probably why you’ve got no clue who I am,” she explained, propping her elbows up on the wooden bar, “I’ve been here for this long and everyone still thinks I’m new. I’m used to it.”

"Well it can be anything you want it to be" he said with a shrug before grabbing a stool beside her. Hearing her name he thought for a second before it clicked. She wasn't new but he rarely saw her around Spencer. He guessed was because of going to swimming practice half of the time or hanging out with the guys. Taking a swig of his beer he gave her another look. "So do you come here just to be rude to people you barely know?" he said with a raised brow in direction. Just by her tone he could easily tell she was being slightly rude. But being him he just thought it was the drinking talking.
(sorry short >_>; I don't have my Pogue muse for some reason)
Axel Scott - May 15, 2007 06:34 PM (GMT)
"Hm," she said past the rim of her glass, casting a glance his way as he grabbed a stool with which to seat himself. Fortunately, Pogue didn't crack a joke at her name. She'd begun to expect it when she introduced herself, as Axel was a boy name, and on top of that a rather hillbilly-esque name. She drained the last of her drink as he spoke once more, and turned to return it to the bar. She turned back around to look at him once her hands were free, rubbing her eye with one of them. "Nah," she said, unabashed by his blunt question, "But it does help pass the time." His comment didn't offend her in the slightest, as it would most people. See, unlike everyone else, she was realistic. If someone wanted to tell her she was a bitch, she was cool with that as long as it was actually true.
Suddenly, Axel began a search of her person, patting down her pockets. She was searching, as always, for her cigarettes. She had an uncanny talent for losing them, as often as she pulled them out. She brought it to an art form. Finding the squashed packet in her back pocket, she pulled it and out withdrew a single cigarette. Inserting it into the corner of her mouth, she extended the pack towards him. “You smoke?” she asked around the cigarette, her other hand searching for her lighter.
ooc || de nada. i understand completely ^__^
Pogue Parry - May 17, 2007 11:18 AM (GMT)
"I bet it does but if you keep doing it you'll beat out Kira Snider for bitchiest girl at Spencer" grinning he shook his head. "And trust me that's quite the title for girl around here" taking a sip of his beer he looked towards the bars front door for a second. If he remembered correctly Caleb said 9:30 that they would be at Nicky's. It was almost ten he was the only one there. Letting out a small sigh he turned his head and looked at Axel hearing her ask if he smoked "Nah I need these lungs for when I'm 40 thanks".
Taking another small sip of his beer he looked around the bar a little "So are you here alone or is the boyfriend some where lurking?" he said with a raised brow. She was pretty hot so it would only make sense if her boyfriend was some where.
Axel Scott - May 17, 2007 10:22 PM (GMT)
“Kira Snider?” she repeated, removing the cigarette from her mouth. She’d never heard of Kira, and frankly, she didn’t really want to. Axel shrugged as she extracted her lighter from her pocket and returned the cigarettes to her pocket. She spun the wheel a few times, sparking a light. She held the flame to the tip of her cigarette and allowed it to ignite, slowly inhaling. Once it was well lit, she snapped the lighter shut and stowed it away in the pocket of her jeans. Ax smirked and looked at him over the tip of her cigarette. “Besides,” she said, exhaling a series of smoke rings, “I’m not bitchy. I prefer ‘painfully honest’, thank you.” She leaned back against the bar, hesitating for a moment. “Better yet, I think I like ‘overly sarcastic’.”
Axel turned around to the bartender and signaled that she wanted another drink, before turning around just in time to hear Pogue speak again. She flashed him a smile and flicked some ash off of her cigarette. “No, I’m here alone. I’m pleasantly boyfriend-less at the moment.” It had been a while since her last boyfriend and she really wasn’t out looking for one every night. She was good being single, even if other people didn’t feel secure without some arm candy with them.
