Title: &&alone time [sort of]
Description: tag: Hales
Vanessa Cleveland - July 23, 2007 08:48 AM (GMT)
A girl laid in the middle of the vast woods with her eyes closed. Her jacket resting underneath her head as a makeshift pillow. To most it would look like she was sleeping but really she was only resting her eyes. The forest was the one place where any one could relax. Vanessa did it on a regular bases just to kill time. Hearing a twig snap made her eyes shoot open. But they weren't her normal hazel color. They were as black as the night sky if anyone cared to look.
Sitting up slowly she looked around her surroundings. Raising brow a smile curled on her lips. "Come out, come out where ever you are.." she said not seeing anyone yet. She could feel some one close by but couldn't tell who it was. "Serena?" saying her elder "sister's" name made her look around a little. "If you came here to rag at me some more I'm not in the mood" annoyance clearly was wrapped around the petite brunette's words.
Serena was the only sister that Nessa didn't get along with. Serena was like the mother of the group. When ever she "used" Serena would be on her ass within minutes. "Don't make me come and find you.." she'd be lying if she wasn't a little worried. Only the daughters knew that she came here. Her cold black eyes scanned her a little in hopes of trying catch who was checking up on her "Emily? Serena? Hayley? Come on out I know you there"

"Serena, you just gotta give Nessa a break." She said through the phone as she walked over to her door and picked up her joggers before moving toward her bed and sitting herself back down. "Look I know, and I get it but the more you harp on about it the more she will get pissed. You know that. Now I gotta go and check up on her ok. I'll speak with you later." She said before hanging up and sitting her phone back down on the bed covers. Oh yes she did know what had gone on with Serena and Vanessa. They had another one of their arguments. Serena was the one who didnt think it best to use her powers unless really need be. She was like the one everyone turned to. Tying up her laces she walked over toward the window and looked outside. It looked cold and dark. Sighing she then turned toward her closet.
Pulling the doors open she then pulled out a white cardigan and wrapped it around her small frame. She was only wearing a pair of fadded denim jeans and a tank top with her cardigan. No doubt she would end up cursing herself for not wearing anything warmer. Heading back over to the bed she picked up her cell and headed for the door. Not looking back she headed out into the hall and then down the stairs out the front door not bothering to bid her grandmother farewell, no doubt the women would be asleep in her cosy bed and her sister. Well who knew what that girl was up to these days. Pulling the front door open the first thing she met was th cool breeze which attacked her. Pulling the door closed she headed down the path and down the street. Driving wasnt really something she did if she could help it.
It took time but she finally made it. The vast woods, a little deeper inside she knew Nessa would be their. It was where they liked to spend some of their time and who could blaim them? In the further distance she could see Vanessa lying down on the ground and didnt want to startle her. That was until the twig snapped under her foot. Immediatly she looked up at Vanessa. Damn. She didnt want to seem like she was sneeking up on the girl. Great thinking Hales. She mentally kicked herself before trying to hide behind a tree. Hearing her friend call out she knew that she couldnt hide for long. Taking a deep breath she walked out from behind the tree and walked over to her friend. Crossing her arms over her chest. "Hey Nessa. How you doing?" He said looking one of her best friends over.

Letting out a breath she shook her head "Jesus Hales could of said something a little sooner". Vanessa smiled letting her eyes shift back to her normal hazel color. "Shouldn't you be at home doing home-work or something" she said before leaning down and grabbing her jacket. Brushing off a couple leaves she slipped it back on. Zipping it up half way she looked back at her younger sister. "Wait a minute, did Serena tell you to come check up on me?" smirking she stuffed her hands into her black hooded hoody.
"Great not only do I have to worry about her now I gotta worry about you doing her bidding. What's next Emily gonna start being her lap-dog to?" letting out a small laugh she looked around a little forgetting where she had put her bag down. Seeing that it was a little ways away from her she grinned and lifted a hand. Her eyes flashed like fire for second as the bag lifted from the ground, came to her. Opening it she grabbed half empty bottle of water and took a tiny sip of it.
"I don't need to be watched or well checked up on every five minutes" rolling her eyes she crossed her legs and rested her back up against a large oak tree. "I'm fine by the way" she said knowing farewell that Serena had called her to make sure she was both alright and not going on a power trip like she usual did after one of her fights with Serena.

She only gaver her sister a small smile and shrugged her shoulders just a little. Taking a few steps closer she looked around the forest. It was a relaxing place. She remembered when she first set foot into the forest when she was a little girl. Well another forest to be exact. She had scared herself shitless, that was until she found out she had powers. Now walking into the forest wasnt such a big deal even at night. She could look after herself. It was just something she had gotten used to especially now that she had three beautiful sisters that stood by her side. When Vanessa mentioned weather she should be home studying she only just rolled her eyes. It was something her grandmother would say and it wasnt something she liked doing much. She wanted to focus more on her powers rather then words written down on a sheet of paper. "Yeah well, homework is over-rated." She said slipping her hands into her pockets.
"Doing her bidding come on. I might be stupid but im not that stupid. Sure I love Serena but Im not a messanger or a guard watcher or whatever you wanna call it." Shaking her head she watched as Vanessa lifted her hand and summoned her bag toward her. This was exactly why Serena had gone crook on Vanessa in the first place. She always used her powers for the smallest things. In fact she could have walked over to grab her bag rather then not bother to move at all. Of course not wanting to start a fight. Sighing she walked over to one of the trees and leaned against it. Her foot resting up the on the bark as she left her hands in her pockets. "I know you dont need to be watched. I just wanted to come and see how you where is all." She said as the cool breeze rolled over her skin.
At that very moment she had cursed herself for not wearing anything warmer. Right before she left she knew that she would have regretted that decisision. "You know iv been thinking. Its been a while since us four girls have done anything fun. We should all I donno head out for a girls night you know." Ok yeah it might have sounded lame and whatever but it was true it had been a while since they all had a girls night out. Pulling her hands out of her pockets she stretched and stiffled a yawn. It was pretty late and they had school the next morning. And who knew what the rest of the night and next day held for them all.

"You might wanna run that by Serena first" grinning she took another short sip of her water. "I've known Serena longer then I wish I did, once you do something for her she'll like expect you do stuff for her from now on" Vanessa said with a nod before putting her water bottle down and standing up. "You know I'm always up for a good party Hales"Vanessa said with smile while crossing her arms.
"As long as there cute boys and free beer I'm totally there. Especially if those Ipswich boys are there" Vanessa only really knew Reid and Tyler but she also knew if they were there the other two boys wouldn't be far behind. "The big annul party at the Dells is this week" she said looking over at Hayley.
Walking over to a tree stump she jumped on to of it and smiled "and I know Reid is just dying to try to woo me like he does every time he sees me" Vanessa thought it was cute how Reid would try every pick-up line in the book to try to get in her pants. But she would always turn him down after flirting with him a little. It was like cat and mouse only she was playing and he wasn't.

They where sisters in everything but blood and hell she would be willing to do anything for anyone one them. She loved Emily, Serena and Nessa to death and would gladly give her life for any of them and that was the truth. "Well you know me, Id do anything for you girls and thats the truth." She said letting a small smile slip across her face. Looking about their was noone else in site. Ha like anyone would bother coming to this place. "Course I know, Iv been your friend for how long now?" She said smirking as she listened to Vanessa say that would deffinatly be at a party if their was beer and the Ipswitch boys. Just the thought of them made her weak at the knees. Those boys where deffinatly hot. Besides they had powers of their own. "Yeah I wouldnt mind seeing those boys again."
At the mention of the party she couldnt help but try and hold back the excitment that was threatening to pour over. Yes god that was going to be a party that wouldn not be forgotten in a long time. Shaking her head she rolled her eyes knowing full well all about Reid. Unlike Nessa of course she on the other hand was one to fall for the lame ass pick up lines and who wouldnt when their was a hot guy involved right? "Poor Reid. He is always aiming higher then he can reach." She said laughing at her own words. She was glad that the subject had changed from Serena to what was going to happen at the upcoming party. "No doubt one day Nessa you will bite off more then you can chew." Thats how it always worked didnt it? Thats how it worked when she wanted the boy her sister had stolen from her. God thinking of that just made her blood boil.
Walking over to the tree stump the climbed onto it next to Vanessa and closed her eyes letting the cool breeze over whelm her and smiled before opening her eyes once more. "I for one know for a fact that Im going to have a good time thats for sure." She said thinking of all the posibilities. Oh they where endless.

"Poor Reid?" she said brushing her eye-brows together "The guy would screw anything on two legs, Hales don't feel bad for the guy because one girl wont sleep with him". Crossing her legs snuggly under her she grabbed her notebook out of her bag, dropped the bag on the under her. "My dad called me yesterday..." she said lightly her voice not sounding all that great about it. Growing up wasn't what you called great and fun. All her dad ever did was get drunk and take his anger out on his kids. When ever Vanessa would go to a party she would always limit her drinking to only two or three beers.
One thing Vanessa had learned about her rough childhood was beer was not your friend. It was more like your enemy turning you into tyrant and lashing out at anyone near you. Closing her eyes she tried to forgot about the nights where her dad would come busting through the font door and take his anger out on either herself or her younger brother. Even at age 17 she could still feel the bruises and scars that her father had caused. Breaking out of her thoughts she hadn't noticed that she had started to levitate a near by tree log behide her.
Letting out a relaxing breath the log slowly went back down to its resting spot. She just hopped that Hayley didn't notice it. Vanessa had been pretty tight lipped about how she grew up. The only person who knew much about it was Emily. That was only because Vanessa had stayed over at her place for a couple nights due to her apartment not being done yet. She ended up having a bad nightmare and Emily had woke her up. Emily had said she was talking in her sleep..well more like screaming at some one to stop. Vanessa ended up telling Emily everything..almost everything.

"The guy would screw anything on two legs, Hales don't feel bad for the guy because one girl wont sleep with him".
Laughter rang out in the forest as Hayley listened to her friend's words. It was the truth, Reid would love to woo any girl that walked up to him. Hayley was just surprised he hadn't begun on the guys as well. Still, there was always that little flame between them. When they were younger they had dated and Hayley had felt as though she had loved him. But after they broke up because of all of the secrets they had between one another, it seemed as though things just weren't the same. Sure they would flirt with one another, and Hayley wouldn't ever turn down a good party with him, but she always kept to herself that she still had feelings for him, not even the sisters knew that. Of course Hayley hated keeping something from them, but it was a matter of her reputation that was at stake when it came to Reid. It wasn't something she usually spread around.
"My dad called me yesterday..."
Ouch. Sore subject. Just from the tone of Vanessa's voice, Hayley could tell it wasn't a good conversation. Of course the sixteen year old knew that Vanessa hadn't had a good relationship with her father, but there were still deep corners in the subject that needed a bit of light shone on them. But, being the person she was, Hayley would never push Vanessa to talk about it if she didn't want to. "What did he want?" Hayley asked. She, herself, had a rough childhood. When she was just a little girl her mother died and she had to live with just her father and older sister. Then when her father died she went to live with her elderly grandmother and it was then that she found out about the Daughters. Her past wasn't nearly as bad as Vanessa's, but she understood the feeling of not having a father.

Chewing her bottom lip for a second she sighed "He wants to come visit me". Vanessa always figured at some point her Dad would want to see her. Thing was the last time Vanessa had seen her father was when she almost killed him. She still had nightmares about the night her dad came home and first started with her then went to her brother. Pushing all the pain away 14 year old Vanessa ended up picking her dad up and tossing him through the front door window and on the front-yard.
After doing so she passed out due to all all her energy being used for such an extreme thing for a 14 year old to do. When she woke up she was with her mom, younger brother and aunt in Salem. Shortly after that Vanessa never made any contact with her dad. It helped a little knowing he was just as scared of her as she was of him. Soon as her parents divorced she moved away from Salem and moved to Ipswich just to get away from all the bad memories from the small town.
