Serena Killingsworth - July 29, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
Yeah, this place wasn't the greatest place to move to but it had been her grandmother's wish and she was so sick, Serena didn't trust her to live on her own. The woman was growing old and had been diagnosed with cancer in it's third stage. The stress of losing her last living family member was driving her insane but she would have been more stressed if she'd stayed behind in Salem. Transferring from her school to the one here had been the hardest. Taking time off to move was second in her book. The house wasn't fully unpacked but it was enough for her grandmother to live in and Serena worked on it little by little after school every day. For now, though, she had class. If you thought being the new girl in town was hard, try being the new girl in a tight knit community and in a private school. Yeah, this was going to be fun...

Serena had checked herself in the mirror about a hundred times this morning. Her hair was was left down, straight and laid out over her shoulders just so. Her make up was soft and subtle, giving her natural beauty a perfected look. Her uniform was a little more than tacky but it was what she had to wear. She didn't have a back pack but she never did. What books she did have were stashed in her shoulder bag with her laptop. After applying a bit of shimmery pink lip gloss, Serena gave herself an approving nod and bade her grandmother good bye. Now, to school...

Serena parked her beat up '93 Toyota Corolla towards the west entrance and rushed to class. The last thing she wanted was to be late for her first day. Serena was one of those girls that believed in first impressions. She wasn't one to care what others thought of her but this was something a little different. Now, it was time for lunch. She'd gone to the cafeteria and bought a salad and a juice. She'd eat outside since the day was still pretty nice. Serena took a seat on the grass, her bag to her right and her drink to her left while she held her salad. There were a lot of kids out, many of them doing the same that she was. Others were crossing to go to their cars or classes but none seemed to really notice her. Yeah, this wasn't something she was used to at all.

She kind of liked it.

Rowan Wickham - July 29, 2007 05:38 PM (GMT)
It had been a crappy morning for seventeen-year-old Rowan Alfie Wickham. His father was in his cups again and he was in his drunken rages again. Dad had been like that since Mum's death and he retired from the league to come here. Adare Wickham found himself out of work because Cricket wasn't played here in a league. Rowan didn't complain because he had enough money that he didn't have work in later life. But his father, that was a whole other story.

Rowan pulled the parking lot of Spencer Academy, a top notch private his father had him transferred too. Alfie, what Rowan prefers to be called, pulled his silver 2006 Aston Martin DB9 Volante Convertible in to one of the spaces at the far end of the parking lot. He looked into the rear-view and sighed. He had bags under his eyes and he couldn't hide them. He spent all of last night playing a one-on-one game of Cricket with his Dad. The match didn't end until one, which threw off Rowan's sleeping plan. He sighed again, adjusting the long white collar on his black and white Rugby shirt.

He de-powered the engine and pulled the black and chrome key from it's ignition and placed it in his pocket. He slowly opened the door and pulled himself out of the car, grabing his black jacket with the Union Jack flag on the back. Alfie was proud of his motherland, and if anyone disrespected it he would be ready to fight, unless person was a woman. He wouldn't dare raise his hand to a female, he was a gentlemen, a ladies' man. He clicked the black button on the keychain that hung from his pocket and the alarm of his convertible chirped, arming itself. Rowan looked around, looking for any familiar faces.

Rowan grinned when he had noticed a beautiful, dark skinned young woman sitting on the grass, all on her lonesome. He decided to be a gentleman and join her. He slowly made his way over to the young woman, adjusting his collar again before speaking. "Hello there." He greeted her. He couldn't help but smile at her, she was beautiful.

Yeah, Serena had always felt a little out of place here. Most people had really nice cars and this and that to show off their money. Serena didn't like that. It wasn't her style. Her grandmother was loaded but Serena didn't feel the need to show it off. In fact, everything Serena owned was either a holiday gift from her grandmother or she'd bought it, herself. She was proud of it all. Sure, she'd have that money when her grandmother moved on and she'd always have it since her family still owned a lot of property in Salem, businesses included, but she would never let anyone catch on. Her mother had renounced her grandmother's wealth and moved off to Chicago to be a coke head married to an neglectful and sometimes abusive man to raise their children in poverty in the city. She had to admit, she had been so happy the day her grandmother insisted that the girls live with her during the school year and just visit for the summer.

Of course, that was another life now. She didn't have a fancy car or the newest, most expensive cell phone. She had a feeling that it would by a problem with a lot of people but she really didn't care. Let them think what they wanted of her. She'd attended private schools since she started and had been raised to be a lady with a background as a hood. She was quite the formidable woman and she had powers. Who would want to mess with that? Too bad she didn't use them too often... It wasn't going to get her friends, either. She did pretty well on her own but she knew what would happen. She had the other Daughters to hang out with but they weren't like her. Then there were a few classmates and... Rowan.

Serena pulled her laptop out of the bag and opened it, beginning to type in between bites. It was her first day and she already had homework! Painful, much? She fussed with her skirt when the wind blew, annoyed to no end that girls couldn't wear pants. Sure, she loved skirts just as much at the next girl but there were just some days when you wanted to be able to just lounge about outside and not have to worry with it. Once the breeze had dropped, she returned to her work, typing out a paragraph and then taking a break to sneak in a few more bites. She was in her own little world, focused on getting this paper out of the way before he next class. She hadn't even heard the voice speak to her - it had been his shadow casting over her that brought her attention to reality. Smiling, Serena looked up at Rowan, a hand over her eyes to shield out the sun a bit. "Hey, pull up some grass." She smiled up at the attractive male before her and then looked back down to her work to save it and shut down the machine. She had something better to do now so she really didn't care about her work.

Rowan Wickham - July 29, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
His smile widened as he took a seat next to Serena on the grass. He was glad to see her. He had needed someone to hang out with and talk to. Serena was that person. Serena was the one person he would talk to during class and he found her to be a great person, personality and looks wise. He had to admit, he did have a thing for her but didn't make it know since he flirted with almost every girl he knew, even though he flirted with her alot.

The Englishmen continued to smile. "Didn't do the homework, did ya?" He asked, already guessing the answer. He had left campus to go downtown to work on the homework. He would usually go to a quiet little cafe to work on it. He yawned pretty loud because of the lack of sleep he had gotten. "Sorry." He apologized.

"Lack of sleep." He explained to her. He took a breath of the New England air, very different from the Westminster air he was used to. He looked up to the sky before looking back at the beautiful Serena. "How are you on this fine day?" He asked of her.

She put the lid on her salad, full for now, and shoved it into her bag with her books and lap top. She kept her drink out to sip from it occasionally but she wasn't hungry anymore. Serena had times where she wasn't ever hungry and it seemed that this was one of those times. Of course, she forced herself to eat to keep from worrying people and to keep from coming off as if she was anorexic. That wasn't the case, at all. She just wasn't hungry, she didn't have any problems with her weight or appearance. If she had a problem, one of the daughters or Rowan would have picked up on it by now. She wouldn't have told him but it would have been kind of obvious with all of the time they spent together.

If someone had said something to her, she might have even been willing to talk about it. Of course, that was assuming there was a problem. She wouldn't have said anything to the girls. She was their leader, they couldn't see weakness in her. Still... She was a little different around Rowan, he had a way of making her comfortable enough to drop her guard a bit. Of course, there were some things that she had to be careful about because he was a flirt and if she let herself trust him too much, she might have developed feelings for him and her heart would have been broken. "No, I did. This was just assigned to us and I figured that I would get it done and out of the way," she sighed.

She smiled, laughing softly and reached over to rub his back. "You should try getting some, I hear it's really good for you." She was one to talk... Serena was a bit of an insomniac but she was used to it so it didn't bother her too much. "Hot date or homework?"

Rowan Wickham - July 31, 2007 12:44 AM (GMT)
Rowan couldn't help but smile. "Wow, scared of you." He joked, laughing. He actually like spending time with Serena, even if he did let his reputation come in the way sometimes. He wouldn't deny it himself, but he would actually give up his ways of Serial Flirter so he could have a chance with Serena, that is, if there was a chance. Even when he was on hot dates, he couldn't help but think about her. He could never get her out of his head, and that wond up having get hit in the face with a socceer ball once, not good.

She was beautiful, more beautiful than half of the girls he flirted with on a daily basis. He laughed. "I bet it's really good." He joked. He shook his head at her question. "Neither," He said.

"Cricket game with Dad." He answered. He placed his arm around her shoulders. "So, what's up with you?" He asked.

Serena Killingsworth - July 31, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)
She smirked, shooting him a playful glare. There were actually some who really were scared of her and she couldn't figure it out. She knew she was a bit intimidating, she just didn't realize how much. It was part of why she had the reputation that she did. "It must be, I hear all the kids are doing it, these days but, you know me, I'm not one to follow the trends." She spent most of her evenings reading. Her grandmother had so many books on the Craft, the history of their powers and her family. She could spend hours locked away in their library, just reading. It helped pass the time, that was for sure. A smile graced her lips and she cocked her head to the side. She really hadn't expected an answer but now she was curious.

Serena nodded in understanding, letting the issue drop. Rowan rarely spoke too much about his father and the same went for Serena, even though her parents were dead. She still didn't like to talk about them too much. She let her head rest on his shoulder when he put his arm around her own and leaned against him a bit. "Oh, you know, the usual... Nothing." She went to school, went to work, went home. There were the few parties and the time she spent with the girls but she really couldn't tell him too much about that. Besides, most of her time was spent caring for the sickly woman. "I'm almost tempted to just cut the rest of the day and get lost in town, somewhere."
