The last time Emily had gone to a hospital... well... was probably when she was born. She avoided these places, and with good reason! They were generally the last place anyone ever wanted to end up. However, whatever was making them sick, hadn't gotten any better, it had only gotten worse. And they didn't know what to do with the sophomore. She was out of her league, usually... she could've gone all magical on herself and made the pain stop, but something else was causing this... something bigger, stronger. Something terrifying.
Vanessa had brought her here earlier that week, and she'd shown no signs of this situation lightening any. She'd only gotten worse. However, it was hard for the doctors to keep her conscious, so they eventually just started pumping her full of morphine to try to ease the pain. No one could figure it out. And with Emily slipping in and out of consciousness, she was no help either. She could barely tell them what was hurting anymore.
For the moment though, she slept... but her dreams were no longer the safe haven away from the storm. They only amplified it as well.
~~~~~
Emily was floating, held by invisible wires as she watched the rest of her sisters beneath her, their eyes black, their hands raising toward her. Suddenly, she could feel herself choking, just as Vanessa had that day in the woods. But soon enough, it was over, the daughters were all laying around underneath her, on the ground, their eyes black and wide open, but they made no movement. Lifeless? Possibly... but who could be doing all this? Emily was still floating, so it hadn't been them... maybe they'd been trying to protect her, to grab her, save her...
She watched as their eyes slowly glassed over, and the vivid black, was now a dull white. "Nessa!" She screamed at the top of her lungs, and gasped as a figure appeared out of smoke, though it was very difficult to make out any details, she could see... sharp angular features, like a face... before hands reached out and began choking her again.
Eerily, a voice whispered in Emily's ear... 'Something wicked this way comes...'
~~~~~
Emily awoke with a start, sitting straight up in her bed, coughing, as she felt the area around her neck. She reached around, making sure she wasn't still dreaming, before she heard a knock on the door. She glanced over at the clock, how long had she been out this time? She really had no idea, she'd lost track. Then she looked to the morphine back, it looked as if it had stopped dripping hours ago.
Sighing, Emily lay back against the pillows, closing her eyes briefly before she heard footsteps enter the room.
Vanessa had a hard time every time she went to visit her younger 'sister'. She was so use to seeing Emily happy and joking around. Now she was laid up in some hospital with several wires hooked up to her. Once she got to the hospital she went to the gift shop and brought teddy bear and a some balloons. Walking to the front desk she asked where Emily's room was. They had moved her a couple times so Vanessa didn't really know where they had placed her. The heavy set nurse told her what number and Vanessa smiled and said thank you.
Walking down the hallway of the hospital she couldn't help but feel a little weird. Every day people died in the rooms and it made you wonder if there was bright light or you simply just roam around on earth forever. Coming up to Emily's room she peaked her head in just to make sure that Emily was awake. Seeing that the blonde was she walked in "Hey Ems". Walking to the side of her bed she put the teddy bear and balloons down on the night stand. "How you feelin?" she said with a raised brow before taking a seat beside the younger girls bed.
"Hey Ems"
It was Nessa. Emily breathed a sigh of relief. She'd hate to see Serena right now. Although... she hadn't seen her at all since she'd gotten put in the hospital. Hayley had been by like twice. Still, Nessa was here almost daily, and Emily was so thankful for that. "Girlie, look at me!" She pouted, "I got tubes in all m' nooks and crannies..." She raised her arms a bit as she sat up, as if to accentuate the fact that she had tubes stuck everywhere.
"How you feelin?"
Emily smiled. Did she have to ask that every time? Well... she assumed so... cos' she assumed Nessa hoped Emily's condition was changing, and getting better. That wasn't entirely the case though. Emily had only gotten worse. "Like I just got hit by a MACK truck..." She tried to giggle, but ended up coughing. Removing her hand from her mouth, she saw that there was a bit of blood in her palm. Nothing new there though.
"So how's Reid?" Emily pestered, trying to get the latest gossip even though she wasn't around school. "Has he taken the dive yet and actually realized he's in loooooveeee..." She teased, with a slight smile on her face as she looked to Vanessa.
