Many things can change in ten years....

Port Royal
In 1765, things in Port Royal are not what they once were. The town is not the beautiful and upstanding city it used to be, primarily thanks to a horrendous earthquake that rattled the land four years before. An entire section of the town sunk into the ocean, and many other buildings were disturbed and thousands of lives lost. In the days that followed, disease littered the population and hasn’t yet left the secluded area. Most of the town now stands deserted, save for a few proud and stubborn residents.

Among these residents are Elizabeth Turner and her young son William. They live in the abandoned governor’s mansion now that it stands unguarded and unlocked. Any sort of luxury Elizabeth might have had in years previously are now absent, and the two must scrounge for necessities and barter with visiting pirates for food. Port Royal has become a new Tortuga, and an even seedier and more dangerous version of a pirate haven. It’s hardly the best place to raise a child, but Elizabeth has no where else to go and knows that soon her husband will return there for his decade’s visit.
Pirates
Ten years is a long time, especially to those who were already in their waning years to begin with. Certain pirates like Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa would be well into their twilight years by this time, if not for a certain side trip that took them both to Florida. The two pirates found the Fountain of Youth, the Agua de Vida, and each of them received a sip (though Barbossa’s was pure accident). They have managed to prolong their life into staying the same way they were once they began drinking the Water. It possesses healing abilities but cannot bring things back from death. It won’t prevent either pirate from being killed.

Any other pirates from the Black Pearl’s crew would have felt the ravages of time, for what pirate in their right mind would share something as precious as time-stopping water? The crew would need to be replaced over the years that go by, with the exception of captain and first mate. Sparrow and Barbossa argue over their positions accordingly.
The Antagonists
Ten years is not enough for a certain sea goddess to let go of her grudge. Calypso’s anger has only increased as she seeks a way to avenge her honor, and she’s finally come up with the way how. The so-called “Brethren Court” is the target of her ire, and in the ten years she’s waited she has acquired a small armada of her own. With her special minions she seeks to take down all the Pirate Lords, as her “minions” are nothing of this world.

Calypso has gathered to her a trio of legendary sailors that many mortals have only heard about in stories. Odysseus, a previous lover of the sea nymph, Sinbad, the legendary sailor of seven voyages, and Tian Hou, the Empress of Heaven and the guardian of fishermen. All three of them are under Calypso’s domain and do her bidding, setting their sights on the nine Pirate Lords.

However she also has designs on two other famous sailors that had once been mere mortals: Will Turner of the Flying Dutchman and the former naval officer James Norrington. She offers them both the chance for mortal happiness, Will with his family and Norrington alive with his honor, provided they help her dispatch the Pirate Lords. She would even be willing to let Elizabeth off, unless one of the other sailors get to her first. However it’s hard to say if Calypso will keep her word to either gentleman. The sea is ever-changing and unpredictable.
If you can survive all of that, you just might make it to Fiddler's Green.
