Cliques, gossip, and rumors. It's all a part of high school. You would think things would be a little different at Blackstone high, a well known boarding school in Atlanta, Georgia. But of course not, there is absolutely nothing different except the students live there, instead of coming every single day. But last year, a dramatic change was forced against Blackstone, changing the way the students feel about the people around them, and making them appreciate everything they really have.
In May 14th of 2006, Nathalie Maureen Jolene Prince was shot in a brutal school shooting. Many people were affected by this brutal murder, there were so many reasons why Nathalie would be missed, and then there are other reasons why she may just not be missed. But the conclusion here is that she had people that loved her. The school was threatened to be closed down for this year, by furious parents, as well as a furious school board, but people spoke out to this, protesting against loosing Blackstone.
Everytime I try to fly,
I fall without my wings,
I feel so small.
I guess I need you baby.
Still, so many people are traumatized that it will soon happen again, that someone else will become a victim to another brutal murder at the school. Of course, the school will still always be divided by different cliques, the Plastics, the wannabees, the Preps, the Skaters, the Jocks, the Scene kids, and every other group that this school has been organized into. But each clique has something that they are hiding, they each know something different that could lead to the capture of the killer, and put this all, hopefully to rest.
Notice me,
Take my hand,
Why are we?
Strangers when.
The plastics, most of them saw the account first hand, as they were with Nathalie just before she died, and some, just when she fell hard on the floor. The Preps, they heard a rumor that somebody had the gun, and they knew that someone would not survive the evening. The skaters knew everything, because they were asked if they wanted to be involved in her death. Well the Jocks, they are playing on the same field as the one who killed her, hey-- they even know exactly who it is. The scene kids may be not as noticed as the other cliques are but they happen to know bits and pieces of what went down that night.
I make believe,
That you are here.
It's the only way,
I see clear,
What have I done,
You seem to move on easy.
Yes, Blackstone high is just trying to get over everything that happened. It's a struggle to try and get over everything, but it will get easier every step of the way. The students are still organized by who their friends are, but of course, things will never change. You just need to see where your priorities lie, and who you think will not stand in your way.
At night I pray,
That soon your face,
Will fade away
blackstone high.
