Fame. You can't say that you've never wanted even a tiny piece. The hotties, the money, the lifestyle, it really can't be beat. But sometimes fame isn't as great as infamy, which can earn you the rep you didn't know you needed. Be feared and gain respect, hated and be talked about, or even be shunned and get stared at all day. It seems like a good enough deal, right?

In LA, it's obvious there are famous and infamous people. Like household-name famous/infamous. It's just hard to escape the need to be recognized. In fact, it's even infiltrated high schools around the city. Let's take a look at one such unfortunate school, shall we?

If you've seen the movie 'Mean Girls', then you'll recall a certain book called the 'Burn Book'. Our little school, Charles Lindbergh High, has its own version of the Burn Book that circulates every year just after years books are distributed. Of course, each grade gets almost as much recognition as the seniors; yet another effect of the desire for attention that is essentially LA. Included in the pages are each class's 'superlatives'. You know what I mean. 'Most likely to be voted president', 'Most likely to be famous', etc. Well, some thoughtful, uh, anonymous jokesters make their own superlatives of the year. Not quite as flattering as the official superlatives, these include titles such as 'Most likely to abuse plastic surgery' and 'Most likely to be stalked'. Of course, every year to date it's been regarded as the last laugh of the school year.

However, this year the students haven't been pleased with what they've been dealt. For some, their superlatives gave away some things they may have preferred to be kept secret. Most of the students bitch and moan just like the past years, but others have chosen a different path. Instead of complaining and obsessing over their own problems and making a cesspool of drama, these kids want to change. Yeah, change. Maybe even for the better. Smarten up, button up, whatever it takes to change things. They've come to realize that there's a difference between being famous and being liked, and being infamous and being the disappointment of their childhood friends. You don't have to change for anyone but yourself, but wouldn't it be better than sticking around the bleeding hearts club (LA chapter)?
